Hugo Weaving does NOT want to be our Red Skull anymore

雨果·维文想效法JGL in the “one-off” of comic book villain department according to an interview with Hugo Weaving. According to the interview it seems Weaving has had his fill of the superhero genre and hopes that he doesn’t have to reprise his role as the Red Skull in future Marvel films. This news is actually a few days old and was nestled in some article I read about the final battle of the Hobbit not having been filmed yetwhere Weaving went off the cuff about his experience with the comic book movie world and pretty much why he’s done.

Since Marvel makes everyone sign multi-picture deals, did you have to sign one when you didCaptain America? Could they ask you to doCaptain America 2ofThe Avengers 2?

WEAVING: I did that forCaptain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might forThe Avengers, but I didn’t think I’d be inCaptain America 2or3. I don’t think Red Skull will be there. And it’s not something I would want to do again. I’m glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to. I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it’s not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by. As an actor, to do all sorts of different films is great. It stretches you in different ways. But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with.

It’s a cute thought Mr. Weaving, but have you seen the legal department that Disney employs. You’ll be back buddy, whether you like it or not. I like that he talks about wanting to experience the spectacle and that he’s, in his mind, ready to move on from those kind of roles but seriously dude: It’s a privilege to play the Red Skull. And you don’t think they’d force you to return to the role? How about you ask Natalie Portman cus she’s filming Thor 2despite her disagreements with Marvel films. That’s all for now…
